your phone identifier needs to be registered as a development device.

Basically, u downgrade to 2.0.2 factory image, quickpwn it, then update (yes, make sure to select the update button not the restore button) to 3.0 beta. At the end of the process, iPhone should remain activated and it does not appear to require your iphone's UDID be registered.

i think that device will be out with the next beta seed.
and remember once 3.0 there is no downgrading.

Not true, today i did go back from 3.0 to 2.0.2 and to 2.2.1.
Just put the iphone in DFU and you are fine.
It even works in the latest itunes version.

The topic is about a 2g model not a 3g model. And the baseband of a 2g hasn't changed after firmware 2.0

Why downgrade when you can go straight to whatever 2.x firmware you have to 3.0? It will stay activated (and unlocked) no matter what.

I had to downgrade from a failed 3.0 installation.
