I've just got back from trip in a foreign country last night and I am trying to find a way to solve my problem.

situation:
Yesterday I was downloading and installing a package through cydia (activateMMS) and after the installation cydia asked to restart the iphone I pressed the restart button and since then the iphone is stuck on the apple logo.
I know how to restore but if do so, I will lose all my data!
now:
1) I am desperate for help.. any data recovery? any way about it?
2) main priority being photos

Are you able to connect via any AFC2 programs (diskaid, iPhone browser?)

If not, just restore...

Yes it is technically possible to get your data back but it's beyond the capabilities of pretty much everybody except those who develop jailbreaks and the forensic/law enforcement community.

I tried to connect with iphone browser without success! since it remains stuck on the apple logo only itunes recognize it as and iphone in restore mode.
Can I shh into it? or open it and get the data from the hard drive? confused:

You cannot SSH into it unless it can boot fully. The same with iPhone Browser.

The advanced way is to restore it in such a way that the OS partition is replaced but not the media partition. This is how the forensic types do it.

Go buy a copy of iPhone Forensics - O'Reilly Media and start with that. The problem is that this book doesn't cover OS 3.x A new updated version is coming that will cover OS 3.x
