I'm going insane here, someone please help. I keep reading that redsn0w or quickpwn can activate the phone, but with all the instruction out there every single one starts with "restoring" the phone through Itunes and you can't do that if its not activated!!!

I have successfully unlocked 2 iphones 3g with Ultrasn0w, but activating them was very easy. I have an ATT sim with a data plan and the phones would just activate automatically the second i turned on Itunes.

Not this one, this one wants some activating procedure, it was my phone#, my social and a bunch of other stuff. I got passed that to the data plan selection, and it says whatever plan i have now will be changed. I dont want that.

I can't even tell which firmware i have cause i cant access anything in the phone. Judging by the pic its 2.x or 3.x. but which one.

Someone please help.

Well, i think i figured it out.

Step 1 should be putting the phone in recovery mode.

I was trying to do this earlier, but i guess i was doing it wrong (1. Power+Home till screen goes black, 2.home till it comes back on)

When ever i did this the phone would just turn off and stay off.

Then when i turned it back on, it froze. so I tried to power off again (2 sec) then POwer+home together...and i heard a familiar sound, then just keep holding home and thats it.
