Help: Upgraded Error 1013/
So yesterday i got excited to update my iphone 3G to the apple 3.0 firmware...
After waiting hours for it to back up and actually install, i got greeted with "unable to restore, error 1013" or something like that.
I've tried so many different ways to restore using the DFU and recovery modes, but nothing. The closest i got was another error message "restore needed, please restore using itunes" but then got something about my SIM pin stopping it from activating!
Please can someone help me out here, i have just about lost all patience with Apple and it' products!!

1013 is not usually an error to worry about, it is related to the fact that it was not possible to downgrade or possibly reinstall your baseband.
If your SIM pin is causing the problem, take the SIM out, put it in another working phone turn the pin OFF and then put the SIM back in the iPhone. You can always enable the pin again when everything works. I did think Apple had fixed the problems with SIM pins when they released 2.0.
If you do not have a legitimate contract for your 3G iphone, you need to wait for the jailbreak (and probably also unlock) to become available before you can use your iPhone with 3.0 The jailbreak is nearly ready and unlock will come a few days after the jailbreak.
If you have a proper iPhone contract, then you simply need to ignore the 1013 error. Click OK when you receive the error message. You will then have the 3.0 OS but can only make emergency calls. Unplug the phone from the computer and plug it in again, then let iTunes activate the phone. Remember iTunes needs internet access because it needs to talk to an apple server. This will only work if you are a legitimate customer.

Then turn of the pin on your sim, simple as that! Put your sim in another phone and disable the sim pin. If you don't know how, read manual of the phone you are using. Usual it is under security settings.
PS. Apple has great products... don't blaim the product

Ok, maybe i wasn't clear and should have explained that my sim doesn't actually have a pin assigned to it, which is the confusing part.
I do have a legitimate contract as it's an British iphone on 02

Were you able to downgrade back to 2.2.1 (bigboss method)?
Did you unlock your iphone with pwnage of other software?
Did you try with another sim card?
Did you try on another computer or other USB port?

I jailbroke it, but because i had the newer modem firmware i couldn't unlock it
I've tried all the other methods you've suggested.

1013 means you are trying to downgrade the BB which can't be done on the 3G without Fuzzy.
You're stuck without being able to unlock until UltraSn0w.

Ahh ok, thanks.
What's Fuzzy? And any idea when UltraSn0w is released? I'm guessing it's like yellowSn0w, Which would mean i'd still have to wait for the 3.0 jailbreaking software to be released, right...?
I feel so lost without my iphone.

A BB downgrader. Search under "FuzzyBand". Regarding to the other question, just check the Dev-Team Blog

Thanks for the info, but it looks like it can only be used from a working iphone.
Another question, is Quickpwn released for the os 3.0 yet? So i can actually use my iphone, coz obviously at the moment it's in no fit working state. UltraSn0w looks like it's being released Friday, but i would need Quickpwn, correct?
All this is soooo confusing, especially for someone who doesn't get along with technology lol.
