Help !
Hey,
I recently cracked my iphone 3G screen and am now using the older 2G. I formatted it to clear it off and after that it stopped working and said it does not recognize the sim card and I should get a new one. I can still still receive calls and texts but cannot get out to the emergency call screen.
Thanks

I'm not entirely sure what you mean.
If you are stuck at the slide to unlock screen on an iPhone 2, you pretty much need to hacktivate (via redsn0w or pwnagetool) to get past this. The 2G has a much more restrictive approach to the SIM card that can be used to activate. You need to do this even if your 2G is permanently unlocked.
If you mean that your SIM card is too new for the 2G, that is I guess possible but I have never heard of it before (or experienced it with my 2G iPhone)
Finally, don't crosspost, you won't get a quicker response. I have deleted your two other identical threads.

You haven't mentioned what iOS version your 2G is running. My guess is 3.1.3
You need to browse for a iOS 3.1.2 IPSW when redsn0w asks you to provide you an IPSW. This will work to jailbreak an iPhone running iOS 3.1.3 (or 3.1.2) - it sounds confusing - but it works.

Restore the phone to 3.1.3 and try again. Could also be your USB cable
