Downloading iphone firmware problem solved
Today I had to unblock my iphone. I had a lot of trouble downloading the firmware file (.ipsw) because after every download in different pages the downloaded file was a zipped folder filed with files and subfolders.
In vista (the only1 I use) go to the containing folder. Go to "folder and search options". There u have to uncheck "hide file extension for known file types" Then change the .zip extension of the file to .ipsw
I posted this because it took a lot of time for me to find the answer on the net and wanted to share with u.

Glad this worked for you in the end. It is generally a configuration problem.
Just a note the generally accepted english term is folder (or for the more geeky directory or catalogue). Carpet is definitely not the right word.
