Could someone PLEASE write a step-by-step idiot's guide for installing Swifi? My iphone says "no wifi", i've restored it hundreds of times and done everything imaginable to get the Wifi to work, but it still says no wifi. I've asked on this site before about explanations of the jargon used for jailbreaking, but i am still clueless. I need to know the programs i need to download, the files i need to download, explanations of the jargon, in as clear basic english as possible. My iphone is 2g 8gb running 3.0 firmware with itunes 9, and my computer is Windows Vista Home Premium. Please help me!

You need to downgrade your iPhone firmware back to OS 1.1.4 to fix wifi.
To do this you need to downgrade iTunes to an older version (I would suggest around iTunes 7.6

Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7

Then put the iPhone in DFU mode

Launch iTunes, let it detect the iPhone, shift-click restore, point the iPhone at an OS 1.1.4 firmware.

I followed your instructions and was able to sucessfully downgrade to firmware 1.1.4, but iLiberty+ still did not fix the "no wifi" problem. I used iLiberty+ v1.3.0.113. I also tried using the wifi fix in Ziphone, but even though it said sucessful, it did not work. Under Advanced->Available On Repo (in iLiberty), there is nothing further to download. I saw that the Mac version has a more prominent Wifi/Bluetooth fix, but i dont know anyone with a Mac. Is there something further you could suggest for me to do?

With iLiberty, you need to go in and change the address to use for repo. The iLiberty download includes an outdated repo address.

The correct address is http://iliberty.insideiphone.com/repo.plist

Stay away from ziphone, it often causes more problems than it fixes.

It is okay to use kiphone which is a fixed up version of ziphone.

You should be able to upgrade back to 3.x firmware.

I would recommend restore to OS 3.0 or 3.0.1 and use redsn0w to jailbreak and run bootneuter.

If that works fine, you can then download a custom 3.1.2 ipsw made with pwnagetool and shift-click to restore this in iTunes.

1. Remove all Apple programs from your computer: Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
2. Download iPhone or iPod Touch firmware 1.1.4 from iPhone Firmware Download - Software & Firmwares for your iPhone.
3. Download and install iLiberty+ 1.3.0.113
4. Download and install iTunes 7.6
5. Put iPhone/iPod Touch in DFU Mode.
6. Open iTunes 7.6 and let it detect iPhone/iPod Touch, hold Shift and click ‘Restore’, navigate to and install the firmware 1.1.4 that you should have downloaded.
7. iPhone/iPod Touch should now be running firmware 1.1.4
8. Start iLiberty+1.3.0.113 and plug in iPhone/iPod Touch
9. Go to: Tools->Options->,then add http://iliberty.insideiphone.com/repo.plist to the Repo List. Click Ok.
10. Go to: Advanced->Payloads Available On Repo, and check ‘DevTeam Gray Wifi Fix’, click download.
11. Make sure it is checked in the ‘Local Payloads’ tab, and click “Go For It !”
12. Boom! Wifi should be fixed. If it is not, you did something wrong, start again. Still doesn’t work? It might be a deeper hardware problem so you might be SOL.

Just to be clear.. This payload is NOT swifi. It fixes a different wifi problem. I believe this one fixes corrupted baseband bootloader. It does this by re-flashing your baseband bootloader to 3.9FakeBlank and forcing an unlock.

The payload for swifi is "DevTeam Gray WiFi Fix" and this requires that you have fakeblanked your baseband bootloader first (this can be done with bootneuter)

Swifi checks and repairs wifi calibration tables. It does NOTHING to the baseband at all. You do have to reflash the baseband bootloader (to make it fakeblanked)
