Cannot unlock after upgrade to 3.1.3
Hi,
I have accidentally upgraded to 3.1.3 and since then I am no longer able to unlock my iPhone. I was in a unlocked version (via Pwnage) of 3.1 before.
Unfortunately I have not found a way to restore to this unlocked version as I do not have an AT&T SIM card (the phone was bougth second hand) and of course iTunes wants me to unlock the SIM 1st, which I cannot do.
I have followed the procedure from the site iClarified but the process fails for me at the Step eleven as my Iphone does not reboot at all after entering the DFU mode.
Any chance to obtain the help of someone ? Or a way to restore without iTunes ?
Thks in advance.

How to restore the Firmware without iTunes ?
Hi,
Would someone know how to restore the firmware (.ipsw file) from 3.1.3 to 3.1 without going through iTunes ? I need this as iTunes does not regonised my iPhone probably because it is not activated (I need to unlock it).
THks for your help.

The general fix for iPhone stuck at waiting for reboot during redsn0w is to unplug and plug the USB in again (or use a different computer or USB hub)
I hope you used redsn0w 0.9.2 from http://wikee.iphwn.org/howto:rs9

Force the iPhone into DFU mode http://www.hackint0sh.org/f137/54082.htm then iTunes should recognise it.
To answer your question, although the research has been done, no one has turned that research into reality so there exists no way to restore a complete IPSW outside of iTunes.
You have posted this in the 2G subforum - so I assume you are talking about a 2G iPhone.
Have merged your two posts as they appear to be related.

Hi,
I confirm your assumptions I have an 2G and I am using redsn0w 0.9.2.
Unfortunately I have followed your advises and I have still the same problems - does not reboot with redsn0w
- iTunes does not recognise: messages "Waiting for iPod" and then "An iPhone has been detected, but it could not be identified properly. Please disconnet and reconnect the iPhone, then try again. An unknown error occured (1601)"

Try to remove and reinstall iTunes completely. Make sure you restart your computer after removing all iTunes components.

You need iTunes version 8.2 or higher (up to the latest 9.1.1) to restore OS 3.x IPSW.
Try different USB port, using a USB hub or a different computer.
