Bricked?? Battery Blew Up?? Help!!
Hi,
Iphone 2G 8g hdd OS 2.x,
PC: Windows Vista x64
Everything was working 100% for the past 1 1/2 year,
until five days ago when the phone went completely dead!
Events that accured are as follows:
picked up phone from cradle after overnight charge half hour later the phone went dead. (I figured no problem) placed phone on cradle to recharge...
hour or so later I realized the phone was still completely dead...
Puzzled?? I did the following:
I connected Iphone to PC and got nothing!! Itunes did not detect the phone!
Tried DFU (only because I have a 2 year old son who loves to play with the phone) thinking he might of gotten a hold of it and did some type of magic to it
and once again nothing!
No Safe mode, no dfu, no itunes, no pc detection
After hours of countless reading and attempts I left the phone alone but connected to the PC hours later I realized the PC had detected the phone but it read "USB device not recognized", I opened up itunes but itunes did not detect the iphone.
I tried everything during countless of reading:
Ziphone, ILiberty, QuickPwn, etc...
and yet I can not get the iphone detected at all. Finally, after reading someone else's similar problem I decided to remove the SIM card when boom I had somewhat of a problem removing the sim card due to some type of residue that was all over the sim card.
I decided to open the iphone, remove the cover and I noticed that there's some type of slime over the iphone assuming it's coming from the battery
Here comes the questions:
1) Is the phone repairable ??
2) What should I do next ??
3) What caused the chain of reaction ??
Do you think the battery went completely dead to the point where I ended up blowing it up by continue recharging?
or could it be something I am completely overlooking ??
Im clueless, I'm not really trying to dump to much into this project
Thnx in advance for all your info!! !

Take the phone into a Apple Store. That's an HW issue.

Then the only choice is to by a spare battery over e-bay and open up your phone and do general cleaning around and in it and put on the one.
Otherwise there's nothing you can do but to buy a new one. Sorry.
