ATT Pay-as-you-Go with Iphone 3G not working
I have an Iphone factory unlocked (bought in Italy) and also Jailbroken afterwards and while in US I'd like to use a prepaid card from ATT.
I bought a pay as you go phone at ATT and when trying to use the SIM card on the Iphone I get no service at all!!
Any idea what is the problem?
I'm running on a 3G Iphone 3.0 OS, with jailbrake.
Is that the problem - jailbrake, or ATT does not allow prepaid customers to use Iphone?
I really need some help to solve that!
Tks,

Tks,
Is it saying 'No Service' where the signal and carrier name should be? Or does it not have 3G data service?
If it shows 'No Service' where 'AT&T' should be:
Did you activate that prepaid SIM using the phone it was packaged with (you said you bought a PAYG phone, not just the SIM), and did the package state that airtime was included ($15 or more)? This is a big question... If it did say this and you did activate with the cheap phone, then the SIM might be locked to that phone for 120-180 days. See this link for info: GoPhone Airtime Credit | AT&T
If it shows 'AT&T' and signal bars, but you're getting 'You are not subscribed to a cellular data service' when using Safari or other apps:
You'll need to modify the APN settings on your phone. See this link for more info: http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/f127/78031.htm
Hope this helps.

Thank you for your response.
My case is exactly as you said first, I bought the card with a cheap phone with airtime included and 'no service' is being shown where ATT logo should appear.
So I guess there is no solution except waiting for this period or do you have any suggestion?
If I buy a SIM card only and activate it with my Iphone will it work?
Thank you again,

A prepaid SIM-only purchase (which you can do at any AT&T store) will work nicely. However, if you do this, do not tell the seller that you're planning to use it on an iPhone, as they will refuse to help you (iPhone technically isn't allowed on GoPhone - Pay As You Go). Also, if you plan on using data (for example, w/ the 100MB data package for $20 bucks), make sure you follow my previous instructions:

quick fix for pay-as-you-go and iphone
I was getting the "not subscribed to data plan"... since all you need to do is change the APN to wap.cingular.com - from your iphone, open Safari and go to this site: Unlockit - APN Changer for your iPhone and change the APN and install the new bundle.
Data works...

If you get a prepaid sim you get your problem solved. Yes do not say in the store that you wish to use it in iphone. Otherwise they may deny to provide you with sim.

I have a question, since you're using the prepaid pay as you go, is the 3g network still functioning? or is it EDGE that you're using on the iphone for internet? I wanna know bad because AT&T wants me to deposit $500 to open a 2 year contract (NO CREDIT
). Let me know asap guys! By the way I'm used ultrasn0w to unlock my phone so help a bro out XD!

Dont try this guys, I just put $50 bucks into my account, and tried the fakeapn. AT&T took my $50 when I was on 3g network doing the speed test. This is just to warn others who are trying this, dont do it!
