Dear All,
I have a jailbreaked 8gig Iphone 2g. currently on version 2.2.
Is working awesome but now I would like to upgrade.
Please tell me if I can upgrade directly from 2.2 ---> 3.1.3?
I am planning to follow the attached tutorial.

Yes, you can go directly to 3.1.3. Make sure to do a backup in iTunes first.

Help Please: I am trying to upgrade my phone but it is stuck in the recovery mode.
I have a cartoon of steve with his hands raised with "NPEBEA" in a bubble. I tried to enter the FDU mode by holding down the sleep home button etc and all.
But it just wont make any difference and come back to the same screen.
Can somebody please tell me what can I do now???

If you are in recovery or DFU mode you cannot "upgrade" only "restore" is possible.
Solution:

either exit recovery or DFU and boot back to your existing OS (2.2) - if that is possible. Then choose the "upgrade" option in iTunes

or

You do have a sync'd backup of your iPhone? (You should always force iTunes to make a backup before attempting upgrades & restores).
if you have a backup.. simply restore to 3.1.3 and then load your backup via iTunes when it prompts you to either "setup as a new iPhone or restore from backup"
