3.0 update really worth it for 2G iPhones?
Ok, so I've been on 2.2.1 for a good while now which has been a pretty solid version on my 2g.
I've had nice functions such MMS (swirly) and video recorder (iphone video recorder) coupled with loads of other useful apps. From app store as well as cydia.
From what I've heard thus far, 3.0 features such as MMS and tethering doesn't even work with 2G iPhones.
Am I missing something really important here? Is the update really worth it?

I have to say that I personally am not even interested in MMS or thetering. I don't think the EDGE iPhone is fast enough to make a good thetering device, and MMS is just not a big deal for me.
However I think the update is worth doing just because of the added functionality App Store apps will have. Push Notifications, which at the moment don't seem to work, will really give the device a new life in my opinion.
I'm also loving so of the HTML 5 additions to mobile Safari. Flickr can look up your location and give you pictures based on where you are.
Really cool stuff in my opinion

Push mail not working on with 3.0 firmware on 2G iPhone
Folks:
Just updated to 3.0 (Windows) on my 2G iPhone. I did jailbreak and unlock, but before i did that (using redsn0w), i noticed that the Push function on my email wasn't working well. It starts to download mail, and then disconnects (the process of downloading is also very slow; i've tried it to sync my Sent items in Outlook).
It disconnects and takes me back to the Home screen. Any clues on how to fix this? Emails (Outlook) are my lifeline!
Help!

I don't think you are missing any more information here. Updating to 3 is really a very good step. Go for it without any doubt. Good luck.

3.0 is really worth it. it allows you to have anything between 45mb and 25mb of free space all the time.
on 1.1.4 to 2.2.1, i can't have background apps without crashes. now i can listen to wunderadio and read sky news app at the same time, still have 10mb left. i can also download tv shows, put it to background and call.
spotlight search may not be very good for us jailbreakers because of quickgold and spotlight's lack of ability to search hidden apps. but with apple's native implementation, we don't have to worry about number of times we press home button. also, keyboard comes up faster than before.
Apple's native MMS is also very easy to setup. so, well worth going 3.0 if you want proper MMS support.
finally, but not least, is the copy and paste, it's very well done to apple's credit. much better than Clippy.
so go for 3.0, you've got nothing to loose, it's overall a better OS than 2.2.1.

i don't use bluetooth handsfree, so don't know (would test out bluetooth p2p if Apple didn't disable it for 2G
)
my wi-fi is perfectly fine, connects faster than before. i noticed there is 1 connection remain with the router when i put the phone to sleep, and the connection seems to be active longer than before.
may be it's your router that's the problem. all my routers use DD-WRT custom firmware.
