I am currently running my 2nd attempt at installing 3.0 beta 4.

1st attempt I only installed itunes 8.2 prerelease on top of itunes. And I got an 1611 and 1604 error.

So I rebooted iphone and uninstalled itunes completely moving my needed itunes folders to the desktop temporarily.

After a computer reboot reinstall itunes 8.2 and looks like my phone is taking the beta 4 down the throat now

Just wanted to post this if it helps anyone.

Agreed... My UDID is registered legitimately (not through someone I don't know for paypal money) and my iTunes upgraded to 8.2 with no problem, rebooted, plugged in the iPhone, let the backup complete, cancelled the sync, shift-restored to 3.0 B4 and it restored, activated, restored from backup, and re-synced with no problems so far...

Running Vista x64 if that's of any interest or if you're running something different.

Are you restoring in iTunes? You have do add the device as a development one in the iPhone Development Portal, restore in XCode (part of the SDK) and afterwards activate in iTunes 8.2
