No and i doubt it will ever be possible (except via emulation / virtualization if the hardware ever becomes fast enough)

You do realise that Windows 7 is not open source? I know that roms for windows mobile 6.x were often tweaked to work on unsupported models - however these were still very similar hardware wise. This approach is very unlikely to work on the iPhone (the only way would be to use some kind of hardware abstraction / hypervisor) as the hardware is different.

    Like Olethros said, no!

And even if you hacked it to install it wouldn't work properly....the drivers would simply be incompatible. Your phone would most likely crash, sound won't work, WiFi certainly won't work.

No it's virtually impossible I'm afraid.

Not to piggyback but I'm with the other two -- this is likely never going to happen. It would be easier to think of having Windows Phone 7 dual booting on an existing Android phone, as a lot of them are the same hardware. For example, the Samsung Focus is pretty much just a Samsung Android phone that has the Windows Phone 7 image on it -- the hardware is 99.95% identical to their other models.

I'd suppose that we would see hacked Windows Phone 7 roms on their Android cousins much sooner than we'd ever see it on the iPhone.

Beyond what the other two have said, there has been little to no progress on the 3GS and 4 as far as having a low-level bootrom exploit like what would be required to truly hook the boot process and load a different OS. They were lucky when they found the exploit for the 3G and that's why you can do Linux and iDroid on the 3G today, but I do not expect that they will be that lucky again -- if there ever is an exploit that is low enough level to allow them to truly pwn the bootrom again, it would be AMAZING -- but I don't imagine it will happen any time soon.

Don't worry though, you're not missing too much. It's a decent OS with a good UI, some poor decisions in the implementation, and a few key missing features. No real apps to speak of yet (at least, nothing valuable, just a couple games and a few productivity apps of some use) and the lack of adoption has hindered development for it. It is better than my Blackberry anyway, in that I don't feel like a dinosaur when I'm using it.
