Project Status...
Hello all,
I'm new user on iphone, but i program since years and years in ASM(x86/Microship), C & C++ on system, embedded and winCE.
The Iphone GUI & hardware seems to be very good but i dont love well "the closed apple world". so i read something about Jailbreaking but with this method we will be in apple dependency progress...(like 3.1 stepping)
So i go to google "linux on iphone" and i found some small backuped information on Hackintosh but iphonelinux.org is dead since longtime...
So i want to help on this project, but this project seem to be dead !
* Does someone want help me to revival it or build a fork ?
* Does someone know a dev group who enroll dev this way ?
(porting linux on iphone)
Thanks in advance
(Sorry for my bad english)

Currently it should work on iOS 4.x - 6.x

If you'd like to help extend its functionality, the source is also available.

planetbeing is taking a sabbatical from iPhone hacking, he has been away since July. No one is sure if he will come back to iPhone hacking or not. He is alive and well staying with friends in Canada. Supposedly he does this every now and again. I personally hope he comes back to the hacking community as he has played a significant part in understanding the iPhone boot process which is useful for jailbreaking and also porting linux to the platform.
Looking at the project it seems there was another person involved marcan who has just released a fantastic update to usbmuxd which allows usb based communication/sync with an iPhone under linux.
I would try and get into contact with him and see if help you can become more involved with the project.

IRC channel says "This Project has been disbanded due to no active development.". I guess this is the state of the project atm.

soo is there any legality of someone else just picking it up and continuing it or are there channels they should go thru

as long as the code is open then there is nothing stopping you forking it off and developing it yourself, you just have to abide by the standard GPL license terms.

Yes, but it's more easier to begin into this world in a worgroup.
Because information isn't easy to find (datasheet, etc...)
After a tour on the web, I think i have to but my hand into jailbreak and open toolchain to get experiment in this world
For the moment, i dont have solution to provide more than my own "platform" to try trivial things. (Brick it & co...)
Thanks for information
