updated to 4.0 and i'm also waiting for activation.

Just connected my iPhone again and message on iPhone says:

"iPhone ia activated"

Currently restoring backup :)

When the iPhone is activated, will it be "forever" ?

Will it change anything with future releases of iphoneOS ?

How do you register ? Do developpers can register more than one UDID ?
