I can ASSURE you that the i-Smartphone in that thread from 'modmyi' is the OLD model (came in a BLACK package). It did not work with 2.1 as mentioned.

I am selling the LATEST model of the i-Smartphone and am GUARANTEEING that 2.1 can be unlocked with this sim unlock. Check the feedback from people who have bought - the 3-4 day wait for this sim-unlock solution is WORTH it as it is the most reliable, hands-down.

Check the "Sim-Proxy, turbo-sim, etc" board and you can see that the VIRGIN sim has failed after using a custom 2.2 firmware file through Pwnagetool. I just replied to this thread and offered some advice.

Myself and Iain, above state that the i-Smartphone works with 2.2 custom (pwnagetool), as perfectly as it did with 2.1.

So do not be fooled by outdated threads you may have read from smaller, less experienced communities.

I would not attempt to sell products that do not fulfill their purpose (unlocking iPhone 3G with complete functionality on 2.1, or 2.2 Pwnagetooled) - I wouldn't be able to sleep at night

DUDE, it doesn't matter whether 2.1 or 2.2, when you use the custom FW 2.2 created with pwndtool, the baseband remains the same...so ANY sim that worked with 2.1 will also work with 2.2, so stop bashing VIRGIN-Sim and sell your overpriced solution! Don't get brainwashed by this guy...

I agree, even during the times of the 2g iPhone, he was bashing every other card on the market except his. For christ sake, if a person is that hard up to sell the cards, do it the proper way.

Guys there's no need to bash Linh. He's very upfront about the fact that i-smartphone only works for 2.2 if you don't update the baseband. As to his price, it's in british pounds so its bound to be a little more expensive. The last time I saw VirginSim on ebay it was selling for about $28 per piece plus shipping, which isn't cheap either. By the way I even messaged iVirginSim the reseller on ebay and here is the reply I got:

Yes, we still have some left, but we prefer not to sell to oversae because it does not work on 2.2 firmware. It will be expensive to send back for replacement in case 2.2 unlocking solution come out.

I still can sell you at the same old price if you accept that it will not work on 2.2 firmware.

Have you bought some VirginSim from me before?

    iVirginsim

Now I have no idea if he means 2.2 custom firmware without baseband update or regular 2.2 firmware. Either way all these sellers are pretty honest about the limitations of their product.

In the end though, I did think Linh's prices were a bit high so I bought a piece from another user on eBay.

Anyways, I think Linh is very honest and helpful and truly wants to please his customers so there's no need to get on his case.

Last price for the VirginSIM (you even got two VirginSIMs, a normal and a highspeed one) on Ebay was 9USD...Linh's SIM soulution costs 25USD...

Well for 15.77 I've got a 3G iPhone that works very well on Voda UK.
I get calls, 3G and everything is working ok..maps, you tube etc.
Must admit I fear it could stop working at any time, but it's been a week now and for me i-smartphone sim seems to be working well....until we have a software solution.

    Lightbulb

I get deathly sick for 3 days, and this is what happens?

RANT RANT RANT, about my pricing, and my truthful examinations of other sim solutions on the market.

Please go ahead, you are not obliged to buy off me, but if you read the comments of those who have bought off me, IainMann being one, it becomes apparent that I provide you the tool to fully-unlock your iPhone 3G, exactly as I have described.

Other sim proxies do the same? Yes, but from common sense and some testing it is inherent that some sim proxies work better than others.

I do not misrepresent my product at all. Of course a custom 2.2 firmware will retain the baseband, this remaining unlocked. That is why I stated it several times, even saying that I will provide the custom firmware to those on Windows, jesus.

and bashing other products constantly? I do that because from experience, with the 2G and 3G, certain sim proxies were GARBAGE and LOW QUALITY. SHOULDN'T THIS BE MADE KNOWN THE COMMUNITY?

In past posts (some almost a year old?) wrote about the old X-sim, the old Gevey, and even the modern gevey 3G which had problems such as size, overheating and hardware failure after 2 weeks or less. I 'bash', in layman's terms, using EXPERIENCE with the other products. You are under no obligation to purchase anything off me.

    That's enough.

AND the 2.2 sim proxy unlock for the new baseband is actually created by i-Smartphone in Shenzhen. I received one 2 weeks ago, but like I have mentioned on numerous occasions, even in concurrence with ZF's suspicion, it is extremely unreliable and WILL LOSE signal from cell tower to cell tower. I am expecting an improved 2.2 baseband unlock which I can sell to the Community.

As I have received comments that prices are slightly high, I will eliminate eBay from most transactions and you can pay via Verified PayPal. This will allow me to REDUCE THE PRICE. These changes will take place when I receive the new, improved product.

    NEW BREAKTHROUGH!

2.2 BASEBAND has been unlocked with NEW i-Smartphone 2.2!

Before signal was 100% loss when moving from cell tower to cell tower. This problem has been somewhat resolved, and you will lose signals FAR less than before.

This is by far, the most stable solution on the market!

ALL functions work smoothly, 3G is working! as well as CALLS and SMS.

Though signal MAY be loss from time to time, this problem is easily resolved by RESETTING NETWORK SETTINGS or SHUTTING OFF then TURNING ON YOUR iPHONE 3G.

We are constantly making improvements to help increase stability, but as it stands, it is better to have SOME signal then NONE.

This is the breakthrough I have been waiting for!

Get the MOST UP TO DATE 2.2 baseband unlock, and I am offering it to the Hackint0sh community for 10 or 15$US + Shipping! I can offer discount for larger quantities, and can beat any price for large orders!

    I AM CURRENTLY IN CANADA!!!

Good thing I got my i-smartphone today that I ordered from some hong kong ebayer. I'm not even gonna bother using it. Waste of $7.50.

Awaiting iphone 3G software unlock to be released on New Year's Eve.

    This business is dead.

Sure, by receiving it 'today' from Hong Kong you would have received the old model of the i-Smartphone (likely not even 2.2 unlock) since for 7.50$ you likely waited weeks for delivery. The model I am offering was released December 17th (newest baseband unlock for 2.2 - most stable) and shipped DHL to me.

I also commemorate the iPhone Devteam's breakthrough and the likelihood of a software unlock for iPhone 3G is great for the whole community. Nonetheless, the blog post says that only 2.1 baseband can be software unlocked as of now and that means people who have updated to 2.2 are out of luck. So with the i-Smartphone I offer to the community, those who have locked their 3G because of the 2.2 baseband can continue to enjoy phone functionality.

    happy holidays,

    Linh
