Well, I've ordered one of these cards from Linh for my new 3G...and he's been extremely helpful. He even sent me a link to download his customised 3G 2.2 firmware retaining the old baseband.
The card is due to arrive tomorrow...I'll let you know how well it works :hack:

I would like to say it is not 'my customised firmware' persay, it was created using Pwnagetool and all credit should be given to the creators of that software.

And I expect there should be no problems with your order Iain, I shipped it yesterday morning.

    God bless!

Default My Personal results to the i-smartphone sim

The card works after ca. 10 sec after reboot

It does NOT work with itunes, must set to flight mode and then reboot!

3G works ok, but since I have the card I have not been out of my area!

Two things which really are bad, the telephone keypad does not work and bluetooth, I don't know if this is to do with the sim card, but they worked before...........any help out there would be appreciated!

    more to come............

Have you tried a forced reboot? Press home and power buttons with the phone on....keep them pressed till you see the Apple symbol, then let go of both.

So Iain has also demonstrated it is possible to go from 2.1 firmware to 2.2 custom (retaining 2.1 baseband) on Windows.

You can do this by jailbreaking 2.1 firmware on QuickPWN, then restoring to a custom 2.2 firmware created using PwnageTOOL.

I believe this is a breakthrough as only Mac could create the custom 2.2 without updated baseband!

and Don, I suggest you RESTORE to 2.1 firmware and follow instructions to jailbreak and activate 2.1 from fresh. I can help you with this.

Well, I've got an i-smartphone sim in my 3G iPhone and it works perfectly! The GSM signal might not be quite as good, but it's ok. 3G, maps, YouTube etc all functioning great and no drop-out I've noticed travelling around. I'm using it on a custom 2.2 phone (with 2.1 baseband retained - DON'T FORGET THIS BIT!!!) in the UK on a Voda sim.
Both cards fit ok in the sim holder - I've put a bit of sticky tape on the holder and left it sticking out the phone just in case it needs a bit of help coming out.
I had to reset network settings to get it to work. To sync with iTunes you have to go into airplane mode and reboot after.
All-in-all a great solution til a software unlock comes along. And thanks to iGun 4 Fun for his help.

Hi, I use AT&T in the U.S. and have been looking into sim card unlock solutions for my 3g because I am going to China for a couple months. I was going to purchase a VirginSim from eBay as I've heard good things about it. However it is sold out. i-smartphone seems like a good solution as you seem to have a lot of satisfied buyers, however I am still a bit concerned.

For example this, thread claiming the i-smartphone does not work for 2.1 firmware.

    http://www.modmyi.com/forums/unlocki...-turbosim.html

Could this just be outdated as it was posted back in October or maybe the i-smartphone works for some carriers and not others?

I worry because I need one urgently and I don't want to buy a $30 unlock solution, have it shipped from the UK and end up being a dud. I'm running 2.1 with 2.11.07 baseband.

    Hello sir,

I can ASSURE you that the i-Smartphone in that thread from 'modmyi' is the OLD model (came in a BLACK package). It did not work with 2.1 as mentioned.

I am selling the LATEST model of the i-Smartphone and am GUARANTEEING that 2.1 can be unlocked with this sim unlock. Check the feedback from people who have bought - the 3-4 day wait for this sim-unlock solution is WORTH it as it is the most reliable, hands-down.

Check the "Sim-Proxy, turbo-sim, etc" board and you can see that the VIRGIN sim has failed after using a custom 2.2 firmware file through Pwnagetool. I just replied to this thread and offered some advice.

Myself and Iain, above state that the i-Smartphone works with 2.2 custom (pwnagetool), as perfectly as it did with 2.1.

So do not be fooled by outdated threads you may have read from smaller, less experienced communities.

I would not attempt to sell products that do not fulfill their purpose (unlocking iPhone 3G with complete functionality on 2.1, or 2.2 Pwnagetooled) - I wouldn't be able to sleep at night

    Linh
