Default What comprises the toolchain 2.0?

I recently installed the iPhone 2.0 Toolchain from Cydia (BigBoss's) and since I have Windows and don't know how to set up the toolchain on it, I've just been compiling my apps on the iPhone. But I'm wondering where exactly the headers in include/var come from. Are they from Apple's iPhone SDK? Or did someone create them?

Just curious if anyone knows the answer.

Since I'm more of a noob than you are, can you explain your development process that includes building on the iphone? I'm looking to get started and have the same question you posted above, but I'm not yet to the point of even building on the iphone itself.

    Are you on Windows?

After jailbreaking your iPhone/iPod, then in Cydia you should install iPhone 2.0 Toolchain from BigBoss. Be sure to click on the webclip that it installs to read about information you need to know for 2.0. Then from there, just create a .m Objective-C file (there's some tutorials out there on how to do create iPhone programs) and send the files into some folder on your iPhone. I use winscp. Then in Cygwin, I type: ssh root@192..... (you can find the address in the Settings menu on your iPhone). Password is alpine. From there, I navigate to the folder I created, and type make. If you need an example makefile I can post one for you.

The thing that originally caught me off guard with this was that it actually compiles your application on the iPhone.

Once it is compiled, copy the compiled app and any files that go with it into /Applications/your.app. Then over SSH type ldid -S yourappfile to "sign" it so it can run. Also make sure it has permissions set to 755 (took me a while to figure out why my first app wasn't starting).

If you need any other help let me know.

Also, I think I've pretty much figured out what the toolchain is, so no one needs to answer my original question. I'm currently working on creating a complete Windows environment for programming on the iPhone called WHISK (Windows Habitat for Iphone Software Kreation). I've created a modified version of CodeBlocks to support objective-c files, and then that, paired with iTunnel should allow for easy development and deployment. I still need to get permission from those two to include them in a bundle... I also just recently figured out how to get the 2.0 toolchain up on Windows, so soon you won't even have to compile your apps on the iPhone. I'm also going to include an option for using only Apple's headers, so you can send it in to the app store if you want. I'll let you know once I've gotten the whole kit together if you want.

    Default Interesting

How is it going with WHISK? It sounds very, very interesting, can't wait for the release! Hope you are still working on it!

If you release it and it is good, I'll become your personal fan

I'm trying to get started with the tool chain as well. I could use that sample make... or point me at one I could find online that I could adapt.

Does anyone know of a faq/howto that already explains how to build an iphone app? How about the same as a sort of quick-start to objective C for someone that knows object oriented programming?

    Thanks!
