My first iPhone program?
I'm a veteran developer with a jailbreak iPhone.
I need to write a small command line program for my iPhone which will throw alerts to the UI using the UIAlert.
My problem is that I don't have a Mac, so I need a way to develop this on Windows, or even directly compile the code on the iPhone shell (preferably).
How can I achieve something like that?
Well, to do it on Windows you have to install cygwin and the right toolchain, then you type "make" in the directory of your project an it will create a .app folder quite fast if you have set up your project correctly (A makefile, the info.plist, etc). There is a great tutorial here :
build iPhone toolchain for 3.0 in windows via CYGWIN - iPod touch Fans forum - iPod, iPhone and iPad
It is way slower but you can also compile directly on the iPod/iPhone : Just download the GNU Compiler and the toolchain on Cydia and type "make" in the terminal to create your application.
With either Windows and your iPhone, you need to make the application executable using "chmod +x" on your binary and "ldid -S", in su mode.
Good luck anyway.
What about the SDK, where do I use it when I work with Cygwin?
And is there a way I can compile Objective-C directly on the iPhone?
