Kernel Extension for iOS
After a long trial and error I have managed to compile a kernel extension for arm using XCode and some command line.
I can copy that bundle to the iPhone and when I execute
iPhone:~ root# kextload MyKext2.kext
can't contact kextd (continuing anyway)
compatible dependency com.apple.kpi.libkern not found
MyKext2.kext has problems.
But com.apple.kpi.libkern is there:
iPhone:~ root# kextstat
Index Refs Address Size Wired Name (Version) <Linked Against>
1 56 0x0 0x0 0x0 com.apple.kpi.bsd (10.0.0d3)
2 4 0x0 0x0 0x0 com.apple.kpi.dsep (10.0.0d3)
3 71 0x0 0x0 0x0 com.apple.kpi.iokit (10.0.0d3)
4 71 0x0 0x0 0x0 com.apple.kpi.libkern (10.0.0d3)
The problem is that there is no kextd process running thus it cannot find the dependencies.
I obtains an error message which says that kextd is not loaded.
Where can I find kextd for iOS?
Has anyone manage to load a .kext on a jailbroken iphone?
For this test I have used an old iPhone with iOS 3.1.
I also have an iPad2 with iOS 5.0.1 but It seems more dificult because kextstat says that the kernel does not support kernel extensions. And I cannot find kextload for iOS5
