Well, you need to have the 2.0 firmware to run SDK apps on your iPhone. You can get the 2.0 firmware from Apple now, but you wont be able to use it as its not yet unlocked. So, just wait for the unlock for the 2.0 firmware and then upgrade your iPhone. Then you will be able to run apps right from XCode.

No. You can run apps from SDK only on 2.0 firmware. So, first you have to wait for the unlock. For updates, visit my blog: http://theifoneblog.blogspot.com

Use the iPhone simulator for now until apple accepts your application, if they ever do.
I have been waiting to be accepted for a long long time.

Thats weird...
I'm from Portugal, applied yesterday and today I received the acceptance email.
Already configured my certs and provisioning profiles and my first app is already running on the device.
I was expecting a long wait from what I've been reading all over so I was kind of surprised it was this fast.
Another thing I found "odd" was that i paid the 79eur right at the moment i applied. That kept me thinking... in the event they never accept me, what did I pay for?
Did you pay too?
Cheers.

now that 2.0 is jailbraked how do i get apps to compile and run on the 2.0 phone? i mean is their a way to just compile and scp it to it.

Hey,
Yep.
Pwn your phone (obviously), and install ldid either via Cydia or (easier) ssh in and apt-get install ldid. then
Just compile the app for Device: Release in Xcode (I'm assuming you're using XCode, since you're in the Official SDK section), go into the Device-release directory, find the .app, SCP it over to /Applications/ on the iPhone, fix up the permissions, cd into the .app directory, and run ldid -S <binary> (where <binary> is the name of the app). This will fakesign the application to allow it to run on pwned 2.0.
Then killall -HUP SpringBoard and you're set!

I have yet to pay for anything. When I applied I got this message
Thank you for submitting your information.
While we process your information, please visit the iPhone Dev Center to download the iPhone SDK and access a wealth of technical resources.
Next Steps
You will receive notification of your enrollment status. Enrollment ID: ******
That was weeks ago, I just tried again and I still get the same message. I really am confused now.
