-is it an app?
-does it require an upgrade?
-does it bring your phone back to factory state?
-is it jailbroken?
-is it released?

someone just please exactly what the sdk is about

It's a Software Development Toolkit. Unless you want to make software, you don't really need to worry about it at all.

thanks bro I think I get this now, the beta release can anyone get it and what does it do??
-
if all you do is download apps, then you dont care about the sdk, you only care about app-store
the sdk is released, but your never gona use it so you dont really care
yes it will in-a-sense require an upgrade, to make app-store work, that requires the next version of hte firmware (version 2)
no it doesnt fix anything on the phone itself (developers using the sdk do that)
yes its a beta (becasue no-one else can install the apps that are made till the app-store is released)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A software development kit (
SDK or "devkit") is typically a set of development tools that allows a software engineer to create applications for a certain software package, software framework, hardware platform, computer system, video game console, operating system, or similar platform.
It may be something as simple as an application programming interface in the form of some files to interface to a particular programming language or include sophisticated hardware to communicate with a certain embedded system. Common tools include debugging aids and other utilities often presented in an IDE. SDKs also frequently include sample code and supporting technical notes or other supporting documentation to help clarify points from the primary reference material.

the "iPhone SDK" requires a Mac OS X 10.5

it is the whole xcode thing... 2gigs to D/L
doesn't work with jailbroken (not official activated) phones, but you can test your apps in the simulator
doesn't touch the phone
software quality seems beta, had some crashes right away

Does the DMG contain the 2.0.0 Beta Firmware Update (i guess it should) ?
