I don't see it in my Dev Center either. I just paid $99 to get the new beta...where is it? It's not in the iPhone Developer Program Portal and its not in the iPhone Dev Center.

I just have this iPhone OS 2.0 Downloads is a down arrow next to it. Then it has an advisory to have the latest version of Leopard and iTunes 7.7. It also has SDK download but not the ipsw. What gives? I hope I didn't waste $99

Yes, you can downgrade. The baseband remains at a higher build number. But it works fine.

02.04.03 (hmmm, much higher build number!)

I made the fatal mistake of trying it on my only 3G phone. None of my apps, or downloaded/purchased worked correctly. OmniFocus refused to sync, and was referencing folder than no longer existed.

I would recommend using only on a Dev phone.

Also, for those common users salivating at the mouth to get there hands on this ... there is NO POINT AT ALL, to use it. Seriously. Unless you just want to come here and bitch about it.

    Thanks for your input.

I upgraded my 3G but not my 2G. The only apps that crashed on me were PCalc, MonkeyBall and AIM. I reinstalled them and only MBall is still having issues.

The upgrade went smooth and kept all the settings and playlists without having to restore them.

Even though my device was registered at the dev portal, I had no need to reactivate.

I concur with you.. the baseband jumped from 01.45.00 to 02.04.03. Huge jump. I guess the GPS update is the reason behind it.
Nevertheless if the user is not in a Google Map detailed area like the US, the GPS will fail to locate you. I wonder how they will handle this in less developed countries that do have participating carriers but horrible mapping details.

Since the upgrade I had minor unexpected issues:
    • -WiFi at times disconnected for some reason (new to this version).
    • -After the initial upgrade the SIM reported as invalid. Had to put another AT&T SIM first and it finally worked after putting the original back.
    • -Roaming takes longer to acquire a carrier and constantly switches carriers unexpectedly (new to this version). While I wrote this, it switched 15 times between the two local GSM providers. Both with the same signal strength. Unfortunately neither allows me to roam on their 3G network (AT&T issue I guess) to see if 3G-2G handoff is any different. Turning off 3G made no difference, only manual carrier selection solved this.

All in all, with regards to the regular applications (Mail, SMS, etc) maybe my idea but everything else is running smoother.

Possibly there will never be a 2.0.1, so if users are looking for improvement, this 2.1 may be the path for legit AT&T users if someone does leak this release.

I'm wondering what countries are going to be supported with the FW2.1 release? Is it possible to find an updated country list in Settings>General>International>Region Format? I'd very much appreciate it.

Anyone running 2.1 care to comment on whether it improves lagginess or crashing (or anything else)?

Worth the upgrade if you're in the developer progam?

It seems quicker on my Touch, but for the fact it breaks almost every current app I wouldnt touch it!
Unless you want to develop using the new push features stay clear as i see no other benefit.
