    Default [Firmware] 2.0 Beta 8 > Downgrade to 1.1.4

I foolishly upgraded my 1.1.4 iPhone to the latest beta (Beta 8 5A345) using iTunes 7.7 beta. Once I updated, the iPhone was stuck on the activation screen. I know that this firmware has not been fully unlocked yet, and I want to downgrade back to 1.1.4 where everything was working fine. I am on a mac primarily but have access to windows as well.

I have spent hours searching this forum and the internet for instructions on how to do this. I tried the following:

-i used itunes 7.6.2 to restore back to 1.1.4 and 1.1.3. This failed both times, but with error (20). The restore didn't even seem to get anywhere as the error screen came up right after the "extracting firmware"
-i used itunes 7.5 to restore back to 1.1.3. Failed again with error (20). I tried to use Ziphone/iliberty/independence to kick the iphone out of DFU mode with no luck.
-i used the beta version of itunes on windows (7.6.3b4) and tried to restore to both 1.1.3 and 1.1.4 with no luck. Both gave error (1604). Then i tried iLiberty to kick the iPhone out of restore with no luck once again.
-I have also tried using this http://hackint0sh.org/forum/showthre...downgrade+beta thread and the guides within. No luck.

Is the new beta firmware different than the rest of them? I have updated and downgraded from a few of the other beta versions successfully, but I can't seem to do anything with this new firmware. I would greatly appreciate any help or ideas as I am now frustrated and phoneless.

Dont know waht the issue is..but search next time k?

Restore 2x to 1.1.4, then turn on iliberty and wait.

Thats all you need to do.

    OR downgrade itunes to 7.6

here's what I did to restore back from beta8 to 1.1.4.

in dfu mode, restore 1.1.4 with regular itunes. then it gave me 1006 after restore was finished; then
    in recovery mode, restore 1.1.4 one more time. then it gave me 1005 or 1006, i didn't really pay attention. the phone booted into recovery mode;
use pwnagetool to pwn the iphone, you know it's working when you see the text flows. pay attention to the iphone's screen, when it say succssful or whatever, restore using a pwned 1.1.4 firmware.

do no use beta itunes to restore, use the regular one.

Did you try specifically using the store activation mode of 7.6b4 and 7.7 to activate it?

Create a shortcut on your desktop by right clicking on a blank space on your desktop and selecting ‘new’ and then ’shortcut’.

    14) A ‘Create a shortcut’ wizard window will appear. In the box within the window marked ‘Type the location of the item’, please type or copy and paste the following bolded text in this EXACT format.

    15) Please ensure you use the whole of this text with all punctuation/grammar exactly as specified:

    “C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe” /StoreActivationMode 1

    16) Click ‘Next’. You will be asked to enter a name for the shortcut. use:
    iTunes Activation Module

If you have a Mac same deal, but /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunes -StoreActivationMode 1

I tried, but no luck. iTunes gives me error (20). The error comes up very quickly after i select the ipsw, so i do not even think 1.1.4 (or any other firmware) is getting a chance to even update.

Are these steps to activate the iPhone on the 2.0 firmware? I wouldn't mind it if it was, as I just want a working phone.

Well that's what I'm trying to figure out. In theory yes. iTunes 7.6b4 and 7.7 have this in store activation mode included, but it needs to be enabled. My post described how to enable the built in iTunes activation, though I've never used it myself. I was hoping you could try it and see if it works, and if it does then fantastic (as it'll help you and will answer my question about whether if the beta iTunes activates 2.0).

If you're on Mac, I have a script that will run the above commands for you automatically and then it launchs 7.7 for you. I haven't tested the activation yet though since I'm not a dev and don't want to be in your place ;-) PM me for the script, unless you know how to launch the command I noted above yourself in terminal. The windows directions seem straight forward.

Let me know if iTunes 7.7 activates it after enabling the activation mode, assuming your 2.0 is still intact after your various attempts to downgrade (i.e. showing the activation screen).

Here's a picture of my iTunes 7.7 with activation mode enabled. I just need someone with an un-activated 2.0 (LIKE YOU) to test to see how it works! http://img161.imageshack.**/img161/9220/actmodemu4.gif change the ** to us

Is the script essentially typing "/Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunes -StoreActivationMode 1" into terminal?

Yes. Copy/paste into terminal and iTunes 7.7 auto launches in activation mode.

Hi, I launched iTunes on my Mac with StoreActivationMode option -- the help screen showed that I was in activation mode (it looked just like your screenshot), but I got the commandline error "iTunes: failed to read activation info from device", and didn't see any new menu items.

I don't have a SIM card inserted - would that help? Do you have any ideas on how to jailbreak the 5A345 build? I really want to test my project on the beta firmware (even running a build prior to 5A345 would be great too).

    Thanks!
