[Firmware] 2.0 Beta 6, Build 5A308 Very Stable
All,
I have been testing all the functions on this new build and it is very, very stable and probably also very close to the general release version coming next week.
Exchange email, contacts, calendar all function as well as ActiveSync on a Windows Mobile 6 smartphone with extremely fast updating of email and folder sync, even on an Edge network (wondering if I really need a 3G iPhone).
All other functions are likewise stable.
Power consumption with Exchange email on Push and other email on 1 hour fetch does not drain the iPhone in 1 day, so it will probably be my replacement for my Blackberry Curve and my ATT8525.
One big note: In the Program Portal under Development tab, the following message is displayed in bold red: "Note: Once OS X iPhone is installed on the device, the device may only be used for development and testing purposes until the GM version of OS X iPhone is released." This must mean there will be a path for developer iPhones to install general release software.
Any others have the same feedback about this beta release?

I agree it is very stable and OS 2.0 promises to be a perfect replacement for WM6 or BB.
ActiveSync Push has not failed at all.
Nevertheless I hope the current version is not the Gold release.
I am still getting sporadic crashes in MobileMail, the baseband and mediaserverd.
It also crashed the other day while trying to open a .doc document.
I also found that it suffers performance issues while reading a 30pg text document.
I hope the general release addresses opening MS documents that come password protected, otherwise for some it is useless to have means to preview attachments.
Apple better release a GM version prior to expiring 5a308. I would hate to wait while my iPhone is pinked and having to revert to WM6 or 5a240d on a different device.
