[Firmware] 2.0 beta 4 (5A258f) How to downgrade to 1.1.4 ?
Hi guys,
I have read through the forums and what I know is that you can downgrade from beta4 to 1.1.4 even though the baseband is not the one regularly with 1.1.4.
So I did this and used Ziphone to make it boot back to normal mode. Afterwards though the phone was failing on stocks, weather, and mail. Those three things kind of worked (like maybe 25% of the time). So after that I decided to go back to the beta4 so that I would have mail working 100%.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Is there a way to downgrade the baseband firmware?
I have a macbook (with latest sdk), the phone is on AT&T legitimately. And I have never done pwnage stuff to it. All things considered this is a virgin phone.
I have read that you can use the patched Ziphone to downgrade the firmware from this page:
http://command-interactive.com/iPhon...beta/downgrade
Before trying this, I do not understand step 6. I understand restoring it to beta 4, then after the phone is functioning fine as beta 4 connect it up to ziphone patched and downgrade the firmware. But why in step 6 would you then restore it to beta4 again? Wouldnt that just overwrite the firmware again?
thanks
Any help is thankful,
Beta4 is good, but still a little buggy. I would also like to have a phone that works the week before the firmware comes out since this firmware looks to expire early.

In my opinion, his guide is slightly off.
Simply go to DFU mode manually (hold down both buttons until it turns black, then let go of the power button. While holding home button, disconnect the cable and reconnect two times).
Restore to 1.1.4.
Patched ZiPhone.
Now for my test iPhone, the activation fails, so activate using iLiberty+. You should have a baseband of like 4.02
Now restore to 1.1.4.
That should give you the baseband 4.04

After I ...

Do I need to boot it back into normal mode or can I continue to Patched Ziphone, and downgrade?

Do I need to try and activate or can I put it into DFU and restore the final time to 1.1.4?

Ok, got iPhone back to 1.1.4 with 4.04.05_G. Everything seems to work except when I connect to wifi. Safari works fine but stocks, weather, and mail fail eveytime. If I turn network off and use edge they work. Any ideas?

I had all manner of craziness after downgrading. In the end I just did a regular restore through iTunes. Ie. I had downgraded to 1.1.4, this was recognized as such through iTunes. I then clicked restore, that is _just_ click restore (no option button) so it went to Factory defaults. After this I just re-pwned the phone etc etc...

Forget that guide, its useless... follow these steps:

Open iTunes
Connect the iPhone
Put the phone into DFU mode by performing the following 2 steps
. Hold down both the sleep/power and home button for 10 secs
. Release the sleep/power and continue to hold the home button
iTunes will pop up a message that says the device is in Restore mode and you need to restore. The iPhone screen should still be black at this point. If it is not, repeat the steps to put the phone into DFU mode until iTunes says the device is in restore mode and the phone screen is black
Click OK on the warning
Hold down the Option button and click the Restore button
Navigate to the 1.1.4 firmware, select it and click OK
iTunes will proceed with the upgrade process
When iTunes is complete it will try to boot the phone, verify the firmware, and (in my case) fail with a 1015 error
Click OK
At this point you should see the iTunes logo with the cable on the iPhone screen
Close iTunes
Open up Independence or iLiberty+ to kick the phone out of recovery mode. (This step was missing in the original directions; if you don't do this ziphone will hang at the "Waitin 2'30" step and not do anything
Open ZiPhone patched by kIREmK
Make sure that you are on the BL 3.9 & 4.6 selection
Check the Baseband downgrading check box
Click Start
In the Progress log box you should see some log progress and then something that says "wait 2'30"" or something like that.
At this point you should see some CLI information scrolling on the iPhone screen
Wait the 2:30 and the iPhone should reboot

I can't get that one to work.
I have 2.0 Beta 4.
I put it into DFU mode manually.
I restore to 1.1.4.
Error 1015.
I quit iTunes, then open up either iLibertyX or iNdependence.
Both have all options greyed out (because 'the device is in recovery mode') so I can't do anything.
If I try it the first way, it hangs on "Wait 2'30"' on the patched ZiPhone.
Grr.

Here is what I did,
DFU
restore to 1.1.4
try "ziphone regular" to boot normal mode->boot normal mode
This usually fails so then after several attempts I put the phone in DFU mode again and restore to 1.1.4 again.
After that do "ziphone regular" to boot normal mode->boot normal mode. This should work, it always does for me at this point.
Now I close "ziphone regular" and open "ziphone patched," preform the downgrade.
After that restore to 1.1.4 one more time.

Give it a few minutes; they should kick the phone out of recovery mode and into normal boot (albeit with no network support until you reflash the bb). Just let the phone sit, with the app connected and leave it be for a few.

If it hangs on Wait 2'30". Go through the restore to 1.1.4 step again. Then when you get back to the Error 1015 again. Retry.
