App icon not displayed in full

Hey guys,
I am trying to set an icon for my app. Its a 40 * 40 png file, but still its not been displayed completely. The bottom part is being chipped off.

Suggestions?

Icons for the homescreen should be 57x57.

Also, if you're using the SDK to compile then it's best not to apply any formatting.

Just use a square plain icon and the SDK will round the edges and provide a filter on top to give a gloss look.

Hey,
thanks for this.. My icon was 60*60 previously, so i reduced it to 40*40 but that didn't solve it. But the 57*57 works, and it seems kind of weird. I mean why wouldn't it work if we reduce it?

Also I have one more question for you. Do you know how can i launch google maps from my application? I was able to launch safari, but not sure abt google maps.
