Default [2.0 beta 3]+Exchange: my battery drops really fast

    Hi all,
Did anybody noticed a huge drop down of the battery with this new release and exchange?
I'm playing with exchange features to configure correctly my business account and during the whole day, my iphone has been really warm and the battery was consuming really fast.
I need to have the iphone all day charging.

    Rgds,

you do know that exchange server configured means it will connect to the internet more often than before, so of course you will get a much shorter battery life.

That's obvious but i think that the iphone connects permanently. I've been using exchange in a nokia n95 for 2 months and the consuming of the battery was not that much comparing to a normal use.
In this case i guess that there is something else going on, maybe due to a bug.
I have MB's downloaded after 1 or 2 hours. That for only email headers is huge.
The email inbox refreshes completely every few minutes, that doesn't seem normal too.
Not to mention the temperature of the devices, it's nearly impossible to keep in in the trousers.

Don't know, but i think that it still doesn't work very well, at least to me.

If i'm the only one experiencing this, it's but luck or maybe some misconfiguration. That's why i would like to know if this behaviour is general or not.

Youre not the only one elborderas. I fully expect the battery to drain faster, but I also fully expect to use my phone all day long.
Its still a beta, so Im hopeful.

I doubt it. 5.5 hours of battery on a phone is far too short and I'm pretty sure the Blackberry's have much better battery life than that.

I am experiencing the same thing. My phone is warm all day and is about to die on 5 hours of not being on the charger. I really love the exchange access, but I love my battery even more...

battery drain is always an issue with Exchange, also with WinMobile devices using active sync, in which case, the (i)phone is periodically checking for updates ; RIM devices got a "warning/wake-up" from the blackberry servers, so the concept is different. Suspect that 1./ the final release of iPhone 2.0 will be better (=some longer battery life) and 2./iPhone/ActiveSync/Exchange is NEVER going to match to long battery life of Blackberry ...

    Default No Problems here

I have been running exchange on the iphone all day. It has been working great, getting emails immediately and any updates on the iphone gets changed on the server immediately. I actually get the email on my iphone about 10 seconds before it appears in Outlook. It has been about 7 hours and my battery is almost full.

    Hi jeeb75
Did you use any particular configuration to do that? I mean regarding what is already posted here on the way to configure the exchange account in the Mail Settings.
i never managed to get real push email, only downloading based on what i configured in Auto-Check.

The only think i can imagine is that it is due to the server configuration indeed. As far as i know, my exchange server is configured just with POP3.

    Don't know.
