I think the problem is with WIFI. Turn off WIFI and you will notice the iPhone will cool down and the battery will last alot longer. I have been able to get the phone to last all day and most of the night just by doing that. Oh and by setting Auto-check to Manual

I had WIFI on and connected all day. The battery does drain quicker than before but right now it has been about 9 hours and I have about 80% of my battery left. I only used if for 2 phone calls about 10 minutes each during the day.

My iphone did crash once while I was listening to music.

Beta3 is much more stable than beta2.

With POP3 connection for Exchange you will not get the push mail capabilities. I set up my exchange server on my iphone with beta 2. Then I synced it with itunes on my MAC. Then I upgraded to beta 3 by clicking alt + update in itunes and chose the beta3 custom_restore file. Then I synced with itunes on the MAC. I chose to restore previous settings. I did this because I needed to accept any certificates and that option was available to choose in beta2 but not present in beta3.

My company's IT department told me that our firewall doesnt allow connections from outside devices to our exchange server. We used to have easy to get to web mail but now we have to goto a website and login in to a web hosted vpn just to get to the webmail link. Any ideas guys on how i may get around this??

    Guys,

Try it without install OpenSSH. I initially PWNE my 2.0Beta3 with OpenSSH, battery usage was definitely not good. I got similar result - around 5~6 hours. You can check your Battery usage in Setting/Usage. Both Usage and Standby time are the same.

I rePWNE my phone without OpenSSH and the battery now improved significantly. Please note I am using the same exchange settings for both firmware. Now when I check Setting/Usage Usage and Standby times are significantly different.

Overall I found the battery usage in Beta3 worse than 1.1.4. However, I can still go through a day without recharging my phone.

Can someone confirm the OpenSSH battery issue? The other way is to SSH into your phone and kill the process. I don't see a need to SSH into the phone now since I can not install anything yet.

I just killed the two running SSH processes on the iPhone. It'll sit in the charger this evening and I'll report back tomorrow on battery consumption.

    Hi jeeb75,
I'm realizing now that with the nokia N95 and Mail for exchange application i do have push email in that device. The emails where even arriving before than in Outlook.

There has to be something else that makes the push email works fine.

if you have (Open)SSH installed and SSH is ON (Services, BossPrefs), batteries are beind drained much faster, so SSH should be OFF

Is there an easy way to deactivate ssh on 2.0 beta 3? Do we need to connect it to a mac and terminal to kill the process, or can we do it some other way as well?

Sure, you can SSH into the device (root/alpine), do a ps to list all of the SSH processes, and issue a kill for each PID.
Note that this is a one way street, however. Unless you have some third party way to 'turn it back on', you won't be able to SSH to the device again.

Well, I've installed beta3 without OpenSSH and BSD subsystem and when I use Wifi the phone gets warm and battery drops quickly. When I disable Wifi it is ok.

I am running 2.0 with the 1.1.4 baseband though so maybe it's better when using it with the beta3 baseband?
