    Default USB Issues iPhone 4s

I cant see my iphone in USB Devices to see it register there, nor can I see it appear any more in iTunes neither can I usb tether...

Are there any steps I must take to rectify this on the iphone itself.

    I am on ios 6.0.1 (10a523), iphone 4s 16gb.

if I cannot and need to restore I have a feeling it still didnt identfy in iTunes or the system...Could some one point to some steps and pointers.

I want to identify if its a software issue or hardware issue

    Any helpers?

Thanks for any pointers in advance.

What I am curious about is my phone can still charge, I am suspicious as to whether cydia hacks may of messed with how the phone identifies when connected to a computer... Has no one at all ever suffered such issues?

I don't think that Cydia is the problem, maybe one of your installed tweaks from cydia but not Cydia itself. To find out that, bring your iphone in safe mode (reboot with holding the volume button), try to connect again to your computer and if it 's register...

If yes, you know that it's one of your installed tweaks/themes etc. from Cydia.
(Then uninstall one tweak, try again on your computer, uninstall the next tweak, tray again to register and that so long until you find the tweak which is responsible for that issue)

If not, it seems to be a hardware issue.
The question is: Is it your iphone (or better the usb connector of your iphone) or is it a problem with the usb on your computer. I think you tried the different usb plug ins on your computer and if you have always the same problem it can also be a problem with the usb driver on your computer and the last possibility is you usb connector cable is damaged. So, try another cable and reinstall the usb driver on your computer...

It could either be the cable that you are using to connect the devices, or it could be a problem with the device you are trying to connect it to. On my computer, I have a couple of USB ports that don't seem to work.
