After today's passing of Steve Jobs, I feel like I owe it to him to pick up a 4S now. 4S is "For Steve" now .
Strange but thats my thinking as well

I think it is a very good phone, with faster processor, better antenna layout and Siri. I didn't think it was a let down since the pattern in the past was iPhone 3G, 3GS then redesign iPhone 4 now 4S. I already own the iphone 4 so I think I can wait for the iPhone 5, but Siri is very intriguing. To be able to text message while driving would be a great convenience for me. Other than that, I am happy with the iPhone 4 and with the iOS5 upgrade it should keep me good until next year.

First reviews are showing 512MB of RAM instead of the 1GB I was hoping for, and they're also showing that the A5 is underclocked to 800MHz, down from the 1GHz that the iPad2's A5 is running at. Loses about 10%-15% of performance because of it, but it's still something like 65% faster than the iPhone 4 for CPU and graphics related tasks.
Looks like I'm pretty set in my desire to just wait until the iPhone 5 comes out -- with iOS 5, my iPhone4 is already very, very fast -- no reason to drop $300-$400 to get a new one at present. 'Specially since I own an iPad2 already and know how fast it is compared to the iPhone4. (Spoiler alert: My iPhone4 rarely if ever feels slow, so, I'm having a hard time selling myself on the fact that the iPhone4S is faster.)

I was disappointed at the announcement last week, but now that I have the 4S in my hand, I really like it. Only had a few hours to play with it so far, but it runs noticeably faster than my 4 did. Everything just seems to happen instantly on the phone. Taken just a few pictures so far, so I don't have a definitive opinion of how much better it is, but the pictures do seem sharper so far.

Like many, I also was anticipating the release of the iphone 5 but after seeing Siri in action, I am in awe! I love that new feature. I do have to question whether the release of the iphone 4s was rushed due to Steve Job's passing. What do you think?

I think that's a great idea. Even if they don't release a special edition though, they should donate a little money for each new phone sold anyway. Steve Jobs was so important to Apple, that would be a nice way to honor his memory.
