    Unhappy Reset Jailbroken iphone

Ive been having problems since october with my phone. It will not charge unless its plugged into the power source and then turned off. I managed to find a program to get all my pictures on my laptop so I am mentally prepared to lose the rest of my data. It also does not connect to my laptop as well. If i was to go to settings and reset all data how exactly does that work? Will I get stuck on a black screen and a completely useless phone? Any suggestions of what I should do?fail

Thank you for asking before doing. If you do a full content and settings reset, your phone will be bootlooped and will need to be restored.

The suggested method (since iOS 6.1 will be jailbroken, likely today) will be to just plug your phone into iTunes and do an update to iOS 6.1. If you believe that there is something software related, do not restore from a backup, set your phone up as new and proceed with a complete sync.

Do not erase all content and settings! If you do, you'll just have to restore afterwards anyways.

Thats part of the problem, my phone wont connect to itunes, so i have no way of restoring it or backing it up. Can I wirelessly install ios 6 and not have it crash?

If the phone won't connect to iTunes while in normal mode, try putting it into recovery mode (holding home while the phone is booting and connected to the PC/Mac). If that doesn't work, put the phone into DFU mode if possible, and attempt the restore from there.

If neither of those work, you can try erase all content and settings, but the concern is that this will wipe the entire phone of iOS and all data, and if it doesn't solve your problem, you will have no way to get working iOS back onto the device as it will not connect to iTunes. Attempting recovery or DFU is safer because neither of these are destructive to begin with and if you can't sustain connection over USB, they won't cause any problems to your device.

Erasing is destructive by design and can lead to you having a phone with no iOS that won't boot that also won't connect to iTunes in order to be restored...
