Trying to restore, getting 1601 / 1394 error? Wassupwitdat?
I'm trying to restore my iPhone 4s firmware via iTunes; and two things are not working: when I try to restore to a d/led firmware (ie. 5.0.1 A9405/A9406) I keep getting "error 1394". However, when I try to let iTunes install the stock 5.1 firmware, I get "error 1601". I have the latest iTunes (which I reinstalled). To further remedy this, I have so far tried: including the references to two Cydia sites in my HOSTS file. NOT including those references (#ing them out). Plugging the cable directly into the main USB ports. Removing ALL software and hardware (router) firewalls AND anti virus. Hackware such as iReb, TinyUmbrella, and finally, praying to God. Nothing's worked so far (other than I'm thinking of converting to atheism).
I realize you can't install 5.0.1 firmware if you have IOS 5.1. But is there even a way to install downloaded ISPW firmware without going through iTunes? What could 1601 mean, and what are people doing to resolve it that I haven't tried?
I'm getting the same error 1601 or 1603 (or maybe 1602?? sorry)
A few weeks ago, I tried for almost 6 long hours to update my Iphone4 (4 only... not 4S) that is on 4.3.3 to 5.0.1 and Itunes just gave me these errors... (I was doing it with pwned DFU mode...)
I was trying to use a custom firmware because I have to use GEVEY and my gevey is only compatible with 5.0.1. I tried everything... using different cables, usb ports, and believe me, 3 computers (dell win7 home, HP win7 professional, and MacBook pro) all of them gave to me the same errors... they just change when I try to set up something different on the hosts file (184.108.40.206 gs.apple.com or .201? I don't remember anymore...)
Seems to me that Apple found a way to block this kind of update.
Someone have an idea to solve this???
