How do i jailbreak my 4s version 5.1 i have payed over $60 bucks now on sites that claim to have it then when i login it says "coming soon"! IS there even a jailbreak how do i find it if so? i tryed downloading old firmware for 5.0.1 and others but itunes would not let me instale even in recovery mode and redsnow does not sup[port the device in ANY mode what do i do ??? Ples help.

There is no jailbreak for 5.1 on the A5 devices (iPad2/4S) yet. You should never pay for a jailbreak, you're setting money on fire. Jailbreaks have always been and will always be free.

Keep an eye out, there should be something published in the next few weeks. There have been some decent advancements in the jailbreak for the A5 devices... Keep an eye on the dev-team's blog page and you'll know when they publish it.

These posts & the posts on the dev teams blog are over a month old now. is there a jailbreak for the iphone 4s yet. any news would be welcomed.

I second that!! Now all the app store apps are refusing to install on a 5.01 4s, which is causing a lot of headache for me, a LOT. I may just say F**k it and upgrade to 5.1 and tell the dev/cydia groups to take a leap. I've paid for a few things in cydia I really like, folder enhancer being the most important but even that isn't worth the bs nightmare the phone is becoming because I can't go to 5.1 or I lose the jailbreak. If there is a jailbreak available then release the damn thing already!

This is the general attitude of most users (whiny and entitled). Because of this, only one of the primary kernel exploit researchers has any interest in continuing to jailbreak future equipment, and even they are getting upset about the general childish nature of the users of their software. I can't be any more clear than saying that this is not something they make money for, you're not entitled to a jailbreak and shouldn't act like you are -- the general behavior by the people in the scene really reminds me of kindergarten sometimes. If you want to tell the "dev/cydia groups" to take a leap, do so, go ahead and upgrade to 5.1. No one in the scene will miss another whiner who doesn't contribute and just complains when something he gets for free isn't out soon enough.

The real answer is that if you want the jailbreak to be released earlier, you should learn how to do the type of hacking required to create one and do it yourself or use the knowledge you obtain to assist the people who are working on the jailbreaks. It takes incredibly talented and intelligent people to find and aggregate the number of exploits required and then successfully craft a way to exploit them to complete a functional (and safe) jailbreak. If you think I'm just talking out of my ass, then prove it -- step up to the plate, start learning how to do this and help the team. The iOS hacking community can always use another talented member, but they'll never worry about losing someone who doesn't contribute...
