Default Stuck in restore mode and no shsh

    hi,

i have been having some problem with cydia crashing today it finally went all the way the phone died and is now stuck in restore mode.

I do not seem to be able to kick it out using tinyumbrella.

tinyumbrella also fails to detect the ecid or save the shsh.

is there anything i can do to do a restore to 4.0 or save the shsh blob or is my only option left to do a 4.02 upgrade and be without jailbreak.

    hope someone has some ideas

    thanks

It is too late to request a SHSH blob for 4.0.1 or 4.0 - did you use the make my life easier option in Cydia while you were jailbroken? Or did you run TinyUmbrella before your problems started?

You can't get ECID in recovery mode. If you suspect that you have 4.0 or 4.0.1 SHSH cached on cydia's servers - then you should manually go into DFU mode - find your ECID - then use TinyUmbrella's advanced mode to query Cydia for any SHSH it might have for 4.0.1 or 4.0

Are you sure it is in restore mode by the way.

    Hi Olethros,
the hash for iphone4 is different than for 3gs.
using TinyUmbrella with iphone4 requires you to plug in the iphone4.
Using it with just the ecid without connecting ip4 is not enough

If he knows someone with iphone4, he can plug in the other iphone4, click advanced options, and put in the ecid from the problematic phone. Not sure if the hash will be correct (I have to check with semaphore) but it's worth a try.

I didn't know that.. Now I think about it.. Yeah it makes sense. The baseband has to generate a random number and send it with the ECID as part of the SHSH request. Apple won't just generate the SHSH blobs for the IPSW bundle without also signing the baseband firmware with the random number generated by the baseband cpu.

That makes TinyUmbrella even more of a vital first step for any new iPhone 4 purchase.
