Hi, soo i guess ill start with iTunes 10.6.1.7
not sure about os just got the iphone 4 not 4s but 4 to be clear this year march 2012 the only software updates on file for my first iphone is iPhone3,1_5.1_9B176_Restore other than that its got to be factory os can't turn it on can't tell.
pc is a vista home premium with service pack 1

Ok so story goes like this.... i had a party and someone decided to try to steal my phone. They got it outside but i noticed it gone and was looking for at least 1h before i found it stashed under a damp welcome mat, i know right now the mention of water generally spells doom for me i did the leave in a warm place 24h and the stick in rice for days now i'm just hoping that there's something in the log that verify's my fears of phone doom or indicates some sort of fix. I have tried 2 different pc's to restore with the same error and fail point. PC is current with itunes and the update was not necessary when restore and update popped up (the second PC needed the download) i tried different usb ports i have disabled my firewall and other such processes. I'm at a loss...

Can you try this for us ...

Hold down BOTH Menu Button and the POWER Button at the same Time and wait till the Apple Sign Pops UP and let go of the buttons.... the LOCK screen will appear and your done.... if you can see the lock screen now go back to itunes and restore it to your old set point.

To resolve the iTunes Error 21 connect to your device in DFU mode first to get by following the instructions according to your device, you can get into DFU mode.
Connect your device to your PC or Mac via a USB cable and launch iTunes.
Hold Home + Power button for 10 seconds.
After 10 seconds release the power button off, but keep the Home button pressed until iTunes a little device in recovery mode you find there.
Once your device into DFU mode, you see nothing on the screen, only a black image. (See above)
If you successfully performed these steps, iTunes will give you a message that a device was found in Recovery Mode and restore it to be.

Now you SHIFT + Restore in iTunes button to press together, so that iTunes can refer to the IOS firmware to which you are restoring. If you have followed these steps you won't get the Error 21 anymore.
