    Default Selling iPhone 4 question

    Hello everyone,

I bought an iphone 4 today and i want to sell it, but i am confused.

What i dont get is how are people selling their phones, when the specialist asks you for your phone number, the primary plan holders ssn and the data plan you want to chose? They allow you to activate it at home, which isnt the problem. Im just not understanding procedure:

how are you supposed to sell a phone that is under your name and plan, with your phone number attached to it, to someone else.

    please help...

Princess, well the issue is that you signed up for a contract correct? And the Plan is under your name and SS# which they assigned you with a phone number. The new rule of thumb for AT&T is if you want to get out of your contract early there is a $350.00 early termination fee (ETF). I do not know how much you are willing to do that considering how much you paid for your phone + early termination fee and how much you are looking to get.

On eBay you can find iPhone 4 16gig's for around 650-700 USD. And 32gig for 700-800 USD.

I sell 16gig iPhone 4 for 550 and 32gig for 650 without contracts. Hope this helps.

To answer Princess's question, The answer is, pay the $350 ETF and sell for whatever you can. Hows that for a repeat answer?

take your micro sim card out. Make a micro sim to regular sim size adapter. Put this into your current att phone and it will work.

Then, the iPhone 4 does not have your number anymore and proceed on selling it.

    Hi Prncess
Ok let me start from the begining answering your first question first,
In the US you sign a contract unless you pay more at some stores that sell it without a contract, but in either way the phone is not registered to you, only the sim card and the 2 year contract (if you signed one) so selling the phone doesnt give away your info. (I personally sold 100`s of the first iphone that came out, back then you just buy them then register them and activate them at home, which i never did.
as for the people on ebay well they either :
1)buy it from lets say best buy without a contract and it is still locked to AT&T sim cards but they sell them to international buyers who wait a while and later soft unlock them.
    2) buy it with a contract (like you did) then either sell the phone without a simcard or wait a month cancel the contract , pay all the nasty fees and then sell it with the sim card (helps to activate but still locked)
    3) buy it from Europe unlocked with no contract for approx $900~1000 and sell it unlocked on ebay for $1300 at the moment.

by the way This is not a promotion for myself i stopped selling iphones since i left the states 3 years ago

you can still put an AT&T sim in the iPhone if it was purchased on that network, unlocking the phone would allow you to use it on any network. so if he sold it then anyone with an AT&T micro-sim could use it no problem.
    Phone: iPhone 4S 32GB iOS 5.1.1 Jailbroken
    Mac: MacBook Pro 15" Core i5 @ 2.4GHz, 4GB RAM, 10.7.4
    Custom Build: Corsair 650D, Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD4-B3, Intel i5 2500K @ 4.4GHz, 8GB RAM @ 1866Mhz, Corsair H70 watercooler
