Questions about upgrading and downgrading
Ok so I am am iPhone noob(just bought iPhone 4), I have been using android for the last 2 years. So pls don't flame me for posting this question. First from What I understand as long as you save ur shsh blobs you can downgrade to that firmware anytime. I saved my shsh blobs with ifaith. Bc the previous owner didn't save them. when downgrading how would the blobs be used since they aren't backed up on cydias sever. I have them on my hdd and on ifaiths server. I found a guide on how to here http://www.ifans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=296164
But idk no if it will work since it's not for the iPhone 4 any help would b appreciated I want upgrade to 5.0.1 and save the shsh blobs before apple stops signing it

Couple of things to address:
1) SHSH blobs for 5.0.1 are ultimately useless at present. You don't need them to upgrade to 5.0.1, and iOS 5.0+ has started using randomized numbers to generate the ticket that requests the SHSH, and because of this, there is no currently known way to utilize SHSH to re-authorize restores of 5.0+ once Apple has stopped signing the firmware. It's still worth saving one just in case, but at present there is no way to utilize them.
2) iFaith will only retrieve partial blobs for the currently running version of iOS -- you neglected to tell us which version of iOS you were running (and thus, which iOS version's SHSH files you have stored), so I have no real way to tell you what versions you can safely downgrade to. That said, since the blobs you saved were NOT for your iPhone 4 (unless I'm reading incorrectly), you will not be able to use them for this restore for reasons I'll detail further my response.
3) If you have the SHSH files locally, you can use the latest version of redsn0w to copy the SHSH files from your machine to saurik's server, just to have them there.
4) iOS 3.x/4.x SHSH files are unique to not only the model phone they come from, but also unique to the UDID of the phone that requested them. Because of this, it is not possible to use SHSH from another device to successfully complete a restore. This means that each SHSH file is valid only for the specific phone and iOS revision that it is saved for.
So, I hate to say it, but it looks like you're pretty much stuck.
The preceding forum post has been brought to you by the letter "N" and the number 42.
