iphone 4 locked and wont restore wrong root password

im must be the stupidest person in the world tho i just love fucking with things, anyhow i limera1n my iphone 4 everything worked fine, i installed mobileterminal and openssh changed my root password because i read about person can hack ur iphone when u got openssh on, so without thinking i changed the password, then i installed some .deb files and my phone shitself and wouldn't load passed the apple logo doesn't matter what i did, then i decided i will just do a full restore on my iphone to get it back to factory so i started todo this now i get a error and the only reason i can think is that the itunes would be using the password alpine and i have changed it,

have i just fucked my iphone or is there a way around this?

The two things are not related. (changing password and unable to restore)

Go to c:\windows\system32\drivers\ect from there open hosts with note pad. delete any thing that has to do with apple.... then save. try restore again.

Bad advice, especially for an iPhone 4 The gs.apple.com entries can cause errors but they are harmless (mean that the baseband was not upgraded) - do you want this guy to lose the chance of using ultrasn0w for unlock?

that is why I confirmed that they are NOT related. Restore (via DFU or not) uses a ramdisk to control the restore process, the root password (or lack of) on the iPhone's OS partition is irrelevant in this situation.
