i have a problem i am on ios 5 on my ip4. when i use iphonebrowser or ifunbox i cannot find /var/mobile...... all i see is root and then inside root there are acouple of folders like :
airfair, airlock, books, DCIM, Downloads, Gerneral Storage, HighlandPark, iTunes_Control, PhotoData, Photos, Recordings, and safari.
thats it ... so where do i put my backed up "AddressBook.sqlitedb" and "sms.db"???
please help
Are you jailbroken? You need to be jailbroken to have access to the root directory and those databases.

All I can tell you is that I used redsn0w to jailbreak and I have the folders available. We've had some serious issues in the past with Sn0wbreeze causing problems and I'm hoping this isn't another case of that.
I believe Cydia still has the 'afc2add' package, that adds the afc2 service, which will break you out of the filesystem sandbox. I'm not 100% certain whether or not it has been updated to iOS 5 though, since I didn't need to use it as I jailbroke with redsn0w... You could try that, but I do recommend backing your stuff up first just in case your iPhone doesn't like it.
You may just want to restore back to factory (use tinyumbrella to block baseband update) and then use redsn0w to jailbreak...

I know you can use redsn0w on top of redsn0w, but since I don't know how ih8sn0w implemented the jailbreak, I don't know 100% that jailbreaking with redsn0w won't cause you problems. You're more than welcome to try and in previous cases, this wouldn't cause problems -- but since I don't know 100% that it won't cause problems, I didn't want to recommend it...

thanks for all your help. I checked out the packages installed in cydia and didn't find 'afc2add' package. So i installed that .. reboot and it was fine. i am now able to access the folders now.

Fantastic! Glad to hear it was easy enough and that you didn't have to re-jailbreak or restore to get it working. Looks like Sn0wbreeze may not add the afc2 service. I've pinged Ih8sn0w on twitter to see if he'll respond as to whether this is by design, but I'm glad to hear it fixed the problem for you!
