Can I unlock an iPhone 4 on 04.10.01 with ultrasn0w (spoiler alert: no)

Hi All,

Really appreciate any advice anyone out there can give.

I have got a brand new boxed iphone 4 from ebay and it is locked to another carrier, still waiting on the seller to get back to me on the original network. Either way it looks like i will have to somehow activate it and unlock for all networks.

Can I jailbreak and unlock for all networks without that initial sync with itunes? Upoload custom firmware maybe??
Tinyumbrella says its on frimware 4.3 (which is weird as all the ios versions seem to be 3 digits 1.2.3) so not even sure which version of redsnow i would need

Baseband version:04.10.01-ICE_2_13

A) Don't threadjack, your post has very little to do with the OP's post and this is considered rude. Beyond that, you posted an iPhone 4 question in an iPhone 3G forum. You really won't get the visibility you want if you post in the wrong place.

B) Search please before posting, you're asking questions that have been answered hundreds of times on these forums. Your baseband cannot presently be unlocked. The only method of using this on an alternate carrier if it is not factory unlocked (which you cannot do after the fact) is to use a Gevey SIM or Turbo SIM, but as these rely on dialing 112 to get access, they are illegal in most places.

a- sorry about that, i am new to forums in general and could not see how to start a new post specific to my issue. Just tried to find the nearest alternative. thanks for the answer anyway.

b- I have searched extensivly on forums, iclarified, and other websites offering guides. almost all of the posts related to phones being unlocked after being synced at least once with itunes using an original sim. this is new out the box.

Fair enough. I'm not sure what you've read or where you've read it regarding an unlock for that baseband, but baseband 04.10.01 just cannot be soft-unlocked with ultrasn0w. You will need to use a Gevey SIM or Turbo SIM. Since you're using an iPhone4 and not a 3G/3GS, you can't use the iPad baseband. There's no known software method to unlock your phone at present, you will need to use one of the hardware SIM interposers.
