Broken home button can't get iphone 4 in DFU

I have been searching everywhere. If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated. I don't know much about jailbreaking an iphone, but do know a little about computers. The home button on my iphone stopped working after a drop from the kitchen counter. I have no way to back out of any screen. I need to reset whole phone if i want to do something else. Read online 2 weeks ago about programs you can get when jailbroken to use other buttons for the home button. This would be the only thing i want. But without being able to use the home button i cannot get into dfu mode. So if anyone knows of another way to get the phone into dfu mode Please help

Get your iPhone repaired/replaced under warranty. That's my first suggestion.

What iOS version are you currently running? It's possible to jailbreak without DFU if you are still running iOS 4.0 or 4.0.1

None of the programs that claim to be able to enter DFU mode work on the iPhone 4. So don't bother trying them.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry to ask a question that has been asked before. I will search the forums better. Can't bring it back to apple. Dropped cracked corner of screen. Just after downloading 4.2.1 . So kinka bad all over. Ordered new iphone 4 and will terminate this contract early costing 110. Will end up saving in long run, but wanted to see what i could do with this one to mess around with. Unfortunately now I have dissassembled it and stripped a screw or 2. Got it back together and works, but still no home button. Will put it in drawer until someone figures out an answer. There should be an apple app or something to reroute buttons. Have read many of stories for broken power and home buttons. Friend told me he heard apple charged almost 200 to someone he knew to change home button and screen.

Anyways thanks for your help
I will wait to see what future jailbreaks hold.

DFU mode cannot be entered programmatically. It is as simple as that.

Many other phones have a lot more physical buttons, Apple designed the phone down to only require two buttons to avoid *more* examples of this type of problem.

Personally, I have managed to break every non-apple phone I owned (from other manufacturers like Nokia and Sony Ericsson) within about a year - due to their poor hardware design and build quality.
