To run terminal commands on the iPhone you'll need one of two things:

1) MobileTerminal
2) OpenSSH + Putty from a PC/Mac
3) OpenSSH + iSSH

MobileTerminal is a free app, you can find the .deb file in saurik's Twitter stream over the past two weeks, he's been hacking on it and has a beta for iOS 4.0 that functions. As far as I remember, the version on Cydia does not yet function on iOS 4.0.

Alternately, you can install OpenSSH on the device and use an SSH client (Putty for the PC/Mac, iSSH for the iPhone) to connect to the device and run terminal commands.

The default usernames are root and mobile, and the default password is 'alpine'. CHANGE IT.

now i can see SSH installed but still my terminal is not working

and i am using cyberduck to connect form pc to iphone but i am getting network failed message i am using SFTP i cant see SCp
while sliding on top of iphone i can see list and in that i can see wifi ip address staritng from 172.10.20.1 but my iphone is connected to different wireless so diff ip

then which one should i use for connection

If you read my post, I tell you that the MobileTerminal from Cydia won't work -- it crashes on launch. Did you download the package from Saurik's twitter stream? If so, post back to Saurik that it doesn't work for you, he may request some information -- it's still a Beta and he said in his post that it didn't like certain devices for some reason he was unaware of yet.

Secondarily, you need your iPhone to be connected to the same network you are connected to and on the same IP range / in the same subnet or you will not be able to SSH. I do not believe it is possible to SSH over the 'public' data IP of the phone. You'll need to ensure that you're connected to the same network on both devices in order to connect.

That depends on how your local carrier has configured their mobile data network. Seen some reports where the SSH worm propagated via mobile data. Probably after that example of how to abuse the network, most sensible carriers have blocked this on their networks.
