    Default iTunes Store/App Store Quits

Whenever I try to purchase anything either the iTunes or App Store the app quits. I will click on Free/$ and then when I click on Install, the app quits to the springboard and never asks for my password to buy it.

Anyone else experience this and know of a solution? By the way, I do have an iPhone 4 jailbroken on 4.0.

The most common cause of this is applying a cracked MobileInstall package in order to pirate App Store apps. If you have done this, remove the package that did this, reboot, and do a full re-sync with iTunes. This should resolve.

If you have no idea what I'm talking about and haven't been trying to crack apps, I would deregister your iTunes account from the phone (can do this under the Settings.app now), deregister your computer, re-register on your phone, re-register on the computer, then do a full sync. This should clear any bad data out.

Let me know how it goes!

Yeah, not sure how to do the whole cracked apps things. I spent all weekend trying to restore and re-jailbreak my phone which wasn't the most fun thing to do. I am wondering if something I did there might have caused it.

Anyways, I don't really see any way to unregister my account under the settings.app.

I apologize -- I used incorrect terminology -- you want to go to Settings.app -> Store -> Sign Out.

If you're worried that you have done something 'permanent' to the device and just want to get back to square one, AND have your 4.0.1 SHSH on file, I'd recommend syncing with the computer one last time to make sure contacts/pictures/etc. are up to date, doing an erase all content and settings on the phone, restoring 4.0.1 with your cached SHSH, then rejailbreaking. I would then extract the SMS and other history databases from your iPhone backup, and set the phone up as new -- you can copy the backed up databases over via SSH after you've rejailbroken the device so that you don't lose your call history, etc.

This will bring everything back to square one and make sure that everything should work.

Absolute last ditch, if that doesn't fix it, use Poof to hide all your jailbreak apps and bring it to the Genius Bar. They'll probably just swap you out for another one.

The reason I restored my iPhone last weekend was because of this problem. lol. Maybe I will give it 1 more try and then if all else fails go to Apple.

Ok, I was able to restore to 4.0 and everything seems to be working fine. However I am unable to restore to 4.0.1 so I guess I will just wait until 4.1 comes out and a jailbreak is available for that.

Shouldn't be a problem. Only difference between 4.0 and 4.0.1 is the signal bar display.

And I think maybe they put the Games Center in as well, but I can't recall. If 4.0 works, it should be OK -- you can use the 4.0.1/4.0.2 firmware 'changer' app that fakes your phone into pretending it's 4.0.2 so iTunes will stop asking and any apps that 'require' 4.0.2 will run on the device.
