Doing some light research it looks like the new iPhone4 8GB uses the same bootrom as the previous, so it should be susceptible to the same bootrom level exploit.

That was more a switch of the baseband chip. The baseband chip in the iPhone4 is identical as previous, I believe. I am surprised they didn't push a higher bootloader version though, since they'd done that previously with the 3G.
