Default Iphone 4 is locked up

I just recently acquired an iphone 4 and when it turns on all that shows is the apple logo with the spinning wheel behind it. I have tried to do a hard reset with the power and home button but it does not respond to this at all. Any ideas?

If you don't rely on an unlock then do a full restore with iTunes.

Search google how to enter DFU mode.

Then plug in the iPhone, let iTunes recognise it and click on restore.

Get in DFU mode this way:
Hold the power and the home button for 10 seconds, than release the power button but DON'T release the home button for another 10 seconds...and you are in DFU mode.

    You maybe did a thethered jailbreak...download the redsn0w last version (Redsn0w, Redsnow Jailbreak 4.3.5 Untethered - 4.3.3 - 4.3.4 - 5.1 iOS - iPad 2, 1 - Unlock iPhone), and go to extras - Just boot, follow the instructions...
