Hey all.
Ok so I've got an iphone that my friend got off of a buddy for free. He says that his buddy couldn't get it to work, and he thinks its something to do with an attempt to preserve the baseband.
I'm trying to fix it so that my friend can use it for himself.
So heres my problem:
NO one has any idea what firmware is on it.. when I originally got the phone I instantly attempted a normal itunes restore using the latest 4.3.3 firmware and letting itunes install it automatically. It went through the whole process and the bar was at 100%, but when the phone restarted the bar appeared again.
I'm not too iphone or iANYTHING savvy, but I've done some research and realized this is known as a "Recovery Loop".
The iphone is a 3gs, 16gb. I have tried using greenpoison, the tinyumbrella firmware, and anything else I found that has been said to fix this issue. I even tried to create my own ISPW using pwnagetool and flash it through itunes, but I got an error saying that It wasn't compatible with my iphone when itunes attempted to apply the firmware.
Now I can't even get itunes to do a regular restore. 4.3.3 aparently won't work with it, and im pretty much stuck.
Is there anything I can do? Is there any way I can figure out what firmware the thing is actually running? I'm pretty sure its 4.3.3 because that's what I flashed it too when I first got it, but I'm not positive if that flash was even successful. Thanks for any help you guys can provide me.
Also, I don't know what the BB version is either..![]()
