Exchanging locked non-commitment iphone 4 for an unlocked one
Have been out of the United States for a few months and wonder if anyone has had any experience with exchanging a locked iphone 4 for an unlocked one.
I had purchased a locked iphone 4, commitment free and have been using it with Gevey sim. Now that Apple has begun selling commitment free iphone 4 in an unlocked state, wonder if I can get mine exchanged for one of these. It is within the warranty period. Even if they will not exchange a working locked iphone 4, what if the phone should develop warranty problems? Could it then be exchanged for a while box unlocked one? Thanks.
According to another thread http://www.hackint0sh.org/f266/277247.htm - the "commitment free" but locked to AT&T iPhone 4s have now been retroactively "unlocked".
You just need to trigger a re-activation with a non AT&T SIM. Aviegas has previously posted how to do this (for a jailbroken iPhone) without needing to restore.
Thread closed, duplicate.
