Unhappy Can't Restore iP4 from iTunes

    Hi,

I've recently JailBreaked my iP4 with Pwnage\redsn0w_win_0.9.8b4 (tethered) using iPhone3,1_4.3.4_8K2_Restore.ipsw and now I want to restore it back to default. However, iTunes errors out with the following:

    An unknown error occurred [3194]

I've gone through Apple's advice and tried to restore it on another machine but I get the same error.

Any thoughts or direction would be appreciated.

    Thanks

This is an easy fix. You need to use tiny umbrella to undo changes that have been made to iTunes hosts file that is saved on your PC. Follow the below guide, it works, I did it just two days ago.

    Hi,

It maybe me! But when I follow the instructions I can't find the "Apply" button.

The only option I see is "Start TSS Server". Do I need to select the connected device??

There isn't actually an apply button, I remember wondering about this too. All you need to do is de-select the option to set hosts to cydia then close the program. Re-open it again to check that the setting is still de-selected. Then restart you PC and try the iTunes restore again.

    Hi There,

Thanks for your suggestion but it's still knackered!

When I click on restore the extraction takes place, it's only when it connects to Apple does the error message appear: An unknown error occurred [3194].

Any more thoughts would be great.

    Thanks

perhaps you legitimately don't have a 4.3.3 or 4.3.4 SHSH blob saved.

Apple has stopped signing (allowing) restores/upgrades/downgrades to 4.3.3 or 4.3.4 - so you must have proactively saved a 4.3.3 SHSH while Apple was still allowing such restores.

Only 4.3.5 restores are possible now and Apple will block these when iOS 5 is released.
